JP Centre/South Main Streets recognizes the people and businesses who have contributed so much to our community this past year. Councilor Kendra Lara presented certificates to both at our 20th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
2022 Volunteer of the Year
Karen O’Brien – Vice President, Board Member of JP Centre/South Main Streets
Karen has given tirelessly to JP Centre/South Main Streets since joining the board in February 2020. She ended up being exactly the infusion of energy that we needed to weather the pandemic. She has served on our fundraising committee since joining, and created the Taste & Tour Spring Fundraiser in May 2022. She was instrumental in launching our Orange Means Open campaign when the pandemic first hit, which helped to bring pedestrian traffic back to Centre and South Street in a safe way. Karen works primarily in real estate, however she is also a talented artist and volunteers with the JP Arts Council. She is actively involved in JP Open Studios. JP Centre/South Main Streets is proud to recognize her as our 2022 Volunteer of the Year!
2022 Business of the Year
Cada Dia, owner Nicole Gunn
Cada Dia has seen its share of ups and downs but their presence in our community ultimately led to positive changes for our organization and our district. Cada Dia and owner Nicole Gunn were the inspiration for our first Uplift JP event. The event spread positivity and love throughout the district and, with Nicole’s involvement, launched a new initiative for JP Centre/South Main Streets to focus more attention on racial equity and justice for our people of color business owners. Cada Dia has been generous to the community in hosting events, contributing to our fundraisers, and getting involved in the community (Nicole is now one of our board members!). JP Centre/South Main Streets is proud to recognize Cada Dia as our 2022 Business of the Year!
