City Council Hearing on Commercial Vacancies

Our Executive Director recently spoke as a panelist in a City Council Hearing on Commercial Vacancies on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Docket #1397
Order for a hearing to discuss long-term vacant commercial spaces in the City of Boston.
This matter was sponsored by Councilors Benjamin Weber, Julia Mejia, and Enrique Pepen, and referred to the Committee on September 18, 2024.

Ginger spoke to the difficulties that our organization has in addressing our long-term vacancies in our district, and in other Main Streets districts throughout Boston, highlighting in particularly absentee landlords. We hope that this will be the beginning of a process that will help us continue our work towards a resilient local economy.
