Inaugural Storefront Grants Awarded

JP Centre/South Main Streets has awarded the first of its inaugural Storefront Grants to five businesses/organizations in the JP Centre/South business district. We are proud to announce that each of the following businesses will receive $2000:

  • –Elleyo, 146a South Street;
  • –Ferris Wheels Bike Shop, 66 South Street;
  • –Lean Force Training, 7a Burroughs Street;
  • –Susanna, 683 Centre Street; and
  • –Loring Greenough House, 12 South Street.

Each business submitted an application and plan for a new sign, new awning, or glass replacement on their storefronts; applications and plans were reviewed and approved by the Design Team of JP Centre/South Main Streets.

The Storefront Grant program is made possible by federal ARPA funds, distributed by the City of Boston to the Main Streets districts as a Beautification Grant. JP Centre/South Main Streets created this program to directly fund our businesses’ needs, while working towards our goals of enlivening the district with good design and an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors.

JP Centre/South Main Streets is still accepting applications for the Storefront Grant program. Grants can be used for new signage, grate removal, or window replacement. Each grant is up to $2000 per applicant, paid directly to the vendor. Applications are reviewed and approved on a rolling basis. All businesses and nonprofits in the district are eligible, however applicants must show a current lease, a certificate of good standing, and financial need. Interested applicants can apply to our storefront grant program here.
