Boston Main Streets Mayoral Forum

The Boston Main Streets Foundation and organizations hosted a Mayoral Forum for current candidates for Mayor of the City of Boston. The event was held on August 10 in the municipal Blair Lot in Nubian Square, Roxbury.

The candidates answered questions, compiled by the executive directors of the Boston Main Streets organizations, that spoke to their views on the economic development of Boston and their support for small businesses, who are the backbone of our districts. The forum was moderated by Bob Seay, transportation reporter for GBH News.

You can watch a recording of the event here:

Forum candidates included: Councilor Andrea Campbell, Councilor Annissa Essaibi-George, former chief of Economic Development for Boston – John Barros, and current acting Mayor Kim Janey. Councilor Michelle Wu was able to stop by before the event for a quick meet-and-greet and photos, but had a previous engagement to attend.

The event was sponsored by the Boston Main Streets Foundation and organized by the Executive Directors of the twenty independent Main Streets organizations in Boston. Questions for the candidates were meant to address specifically the concerns and issues of small businesses in Boston, and the work of our local Main Streets organizations.
