November is the New December

JP Local First and JP Centre/South Main Streets Partner With Independent Business Advocacy Groups to Launch 2021 Shop Indie Local Campaign

Jamaica Plain, MA – October 21, 2021 – JP Local First and JP Centre/South Main Streets will join the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA) to launch their Shop Indie Local holiday campaign, urging individuals and businesses to shift their holiday spending to locally owned and independent businesses. Over fifty independent business networks have signed on as partners, pledging to organize neighboring businesses around the Shop Indie Local movement.

Every dollar spent at a locally owned and independent business returns 2-3 times more dollars back into a community than a dollar spent at a non-local business. Those dollars represent a significant contribution to local jobs, taxes, and other community-building investments.

As part of the Shop Indie Local festivities, JP Local First and JP Centre/South Main Streets are promoting “November is the new December,” and Plaid Weekend! Businesses will have planned events throughout November and December to entice shoppers. Instead of Black Friday, JP residents are encouraged to shop Plaid Weekend locally, November 26-29, with a variety of events planned to recognize customer appreciation, great deals, and charity giving.

“Our local businesses made it through a tough year by prioritizing our loyal customers, and now they want to celebrate the holiday season by giving back. For customers, the advantage is avoiding the holiday rush and the supply chain problems that continue to plague the industry,” said Ginger Brown, Executive Director of JP Centre/South Main Streets.
