Annual Meeting 2023

JP Centre/South Main Streets held their 2023 Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Footlight Club in Jamaica Plain. Our featured speakers were Rep. Sam Montaño, who spoke about doing the work to build grassroots support for statewide measures; and Roxanne Longoria, who spoke about plans for this year’s Open Streets Boston.

Sam has a history of involvement with Jamaica Plain, including community organizing at the JPNDC and serving on the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council. They are working to continue the initiatives heralded by former Representative Nika Elugardo and supporting measures for housing affordability, representation for LGBTQ+, and funding support for the three Jamaica Plain Main Streets organizations.

This year, the city has hired Roxanne Longoria as the dedicated Outreach Coordinator for Open Streets Boston. She announced that this year’s Open Streets in Jamaica Plain will be on Sunday, June 25, 2023, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. As Outreach Coordinator, Roxanne will be reaching out to stakeholders and vendors for a bigger and better event.

Finally, elections were held for returning and new board members. We are happy to announce that Michael Reiskind and Karen O’Brien have been re-elected to the board, and we are proud to welcome Sarah Marsan, Sherisse Mayala-Nelson, and Phil Celeste to the board of directors!

Thank you to all who came, and thank you to all who have supported JP Centre/South Main Streets in the past year!
