It was the 22nd running of the JP Canine Costume Parade on Saturday, October 31, 2026, which just so happened to be Halloween this year. The weather provided the perfect setting for 120 dogs to walk the red carpet – a record number of entrants for the parade! Thanks to donations and entry fees, the parade was able to raise $1480, which will be donated to Shultz’s Guest House dog rescue in Dedham, MA.
The red carpet was MC’ed by Brad Brown, owner of Blue Frog Bakery, and judged by District 6 City Councilor Ben Weber, Cathy McCarthy from TCB – The Cooperative Bank, and Dan Bernblum, owner of The Mindful Mutt. 1st Place was awarded to The Odyssey; 2nd place was The Exorcist, and 3rd place was Robin Hood! All of the winners received a giant dog biscuit courtesy of the Blue Frog Bakery, and prizes and treats from Polkadog Bakery.
Many thanks to our sponsors: TCB – The Cooperative Bank, the Mindful Mutt; Happy Tails Market, and First Church Jamaica Plain! We are also grateful for the support of E-13 Police Precinct for the police escort; the Loring Greenough House and First Baptist Church for the use of their lawns; DJ Soul Kore and JP Honk for the music; and all of our wonderful volunteers who made it happen smoothly.
